Last weekend my wife and I went down to Seattle for her birthday and she really wanted to stop off at Krispy Kreme Doughnuts in Burlington because she'd heard so many good things about them. That and the fact that soon they'll be opening one in Delta (fucking Delta). I was somewhat indifferent, not having been indoctrinated in the Krispy Kreme mysteries. But we stopped in there and had doughnuts and I had one of their frozen blends - the Original Kreme with coffee. Holy shit was it good. The doughnut was good too. Awesome actually. The chocolate tasted like real chocolate, it was fresh, it was just plain good. We stopped in on the way back too, to pick up some doughnuts for the kids (and maybe a couple for ourselves - needless to say, South Beach was on hold). We noticed the lot was filled mostly with cars and minivans with Canadian plates. Waiting in line a girl handed out free glazed doughnuts, still warm because they were actually being made as we entered the place.
So where am I going with this? Well, soon Tim Hortons will be going with frozen donuts shipped in from back east, for starters. Their Iced Cappuccinos are good but not as good as KK's. Ever get a free sample there? I haven't. So I was just thinking, if Krispy Kreme establishes a strong foothold in Canada, Timmy's is fucked. And don't give me any of that shit about Tim Hortons being a fine Canadian establishment. They were bought out by Wendy's a long time ago. So once I'm off this accursed South Beach diet, the new KK should be open and I'll be running my skinny ass on down there.
So Triumph pissed off Quebec the other night. Well I found that skit terribly funny. How did they even know it was offensive when they refuse to speak english? Perhaps the humour was "lost in translation"? Bah. Cry babies I say. My favourite part was the two idiots dancing and Triumph referring to them as "Canadian Mountee and Canadian Mounter". That was priceless. If they're going to behave like that on camera then they have no right to be upset with the resulting comedy bit.
I think I mostly feel this way because I resent having french on cereal boxes and every other package I pick up in the grocery store or at home, which invariably has the french side facing me when I try to read the ingredients list.

So Nickelback's on Conan this week. I saw Conan on Much Music the other day and Rick the Midget Temp VJ guy asked him to sing a Nickelback song. So Conan sang, "My name is Nickelback!". I was quite impressed with Conan's lack of Nickelback knowledge. Because I hate them. The other day I was driving home and I heard CFOX's "Top 5 at 5" and there was a new Nickelback song on it that I'd never heard before. And of course it sucked. And it got me thinking; if that Chad guy sang the ingredients off the back of a Beefaroni can the fans would request it into the top 5. "Oooh, monosodium glutamate!" It's ridiculous. By the way, I hate CFOX's "new old format" too. AC/DC sucks ass.
