You are absolutely right about Mulroney. Only problem is there are even more annoying people haunting CTV, such as that skunk haired skank Tanya Kim, who replaced Mulroney on ETalk Daily. Can't CTV find one intelligent and entertaining person? Was Mike Bullard their best?

I totally disagree about Ben Mulroney. I think he is an intelligent, witty, and engaging host. Not to mention he is drop-dead gorgeous! Yah, he may have gotten the job because of his last name, but if he didn't have the talent to back it up, CTV wouldn't keep him on. And I don't think it's fair to judge him based on your opinions about his father. I do agree that Tanya Kim has got to go. She has the most annoying voice on telivision. All of those rising inflections are like nails on a chalkboard!

Ben is a great guy! He is man who cares about people - like his father, who cares about community. Not even 30 years of age, he has accomplished more in his life to date, than some of the "negative" souls who have nothing positive to offer - even if it was starring right at them. I agree with the POSITIVE comments about Ben. He has done nothing wrong to deserve the negative comments some of you have said about him. He is definitely intelligent (going to both Laval for law, and Duke for history! I'd say that's impressive!), and may not be the best host on T.V., but at least you know he's genuine and isn't afraid to try new avenues in his life. As for the people who are wanting to "stab him in the face", just b/c of what his father has done, I think you should grow up. If your father has done something wrong, would you want to constantly be told that you are the same as your father?? Please. Brian Mulroney wasn't all bad. And Ben isn't his father. At least he is using his name to do good in the world. I think you guys need some anger management...if these people bother you so much, then don't watch them! Duh! I think the negative people on this message board are just insecure and jealous of the life Ben has made for himself. Usually people talk bad about other people just to make themselves feel better. Go and do some charity work or something and maybe you'll feel better about yourself too!

Ok first I need to clear a couple things up. This isn't actually a message board; it's the comments section of my blog. I left the comments on this post open so people could add their thoughts. Second, I don't *really* want to stab him in the face. I'm not a violent person. The only people I'd really want to stab in the face are pedophiles, etc. Anyway, I'm not jealous of Ben Mulroney, but thanks for jumping to that particular conclusion. One of the reasons I *don't* watch Canadian Idol is because he hosts it and I find him hard to take. As for him "trying new avenues", do you honestly believe for one single second that he'd be hosting this show if it weren't for his connections? And as for charity work I'd be happy to perform some if I had lots of spare time and money of my own...
Now, if I may jump to a conclusion of my own, it seems that most of the people coming to Ben’s defense are girls with crushes…

I second that emotion! I first heard that grating voice of his when my wife (God bless her!) began watching Canadian Idol, the world's most inane, insipid, pretentious, annoying show on earth - apart from American Idol, that is - but I never put the voice to the face until, one day, as I happened to glance at the muted signal on my television screen, I saw a strangely maniacal head bobbing up and down, with eyes darting about like some sort of demented ventriloquist's dummy - all silent, of course, because the sound was off - and realized when I saw the credits rolling by that I was watching the very end of a Canadian Idol show. I realized then that this was, in fact, the Mulroney guy. Turning on the sound, I heard him talk about various things, but one comment caught my attention specifically, and that was when he said he had ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) before they'd even come up with a term for that condition. I have ADD. I don't think he does, but if he does (most people who have it don't talk about it), he's the dumbest ass**** with ADD I've ever seen. People with ADD are highly intelligent, and I'm not denying that Mulroney has some intelligence, but he seems like a person without a real personality, someone who's been "invented" for and by the media, and I'm one who won't mention his father, but I will mention that Ben's comment about how anyone who does not realize that his political contacts helped him get him his job is an idiot, were in my opinion defensive and I think point to the guy's basic insecurity. Face it, if you are a shallow woman (as some of the comments praising Mulroney's good looks seem to indicate), then I guess it doesn't matter if he's a jerk. It wouldn't be the first time a non-entity like Mulroney got to high places just because he has a pretty face and eyes like a magician's lap-dummy.

Incidentally, in case I get some outraged response from a female writer, I feel the same way about good-looking women. They don't interest me unless they have heart and soul, two ingredients that are missing these days from commercial television in general.

Nicely put, Mike. He is indeed like an evil ventriloquist's dummy, now that you mention it. Which makes me think that perhaps after he gets booted off Idol he can get a job on "Puppets Who Kill".

Wow, quite the nasty disagreement. Personally, I think this discussion was to whether or not Ben Mulroney was liked. We're all entitled to our opinions but I'm always amazed at the threads of hatred directed at public figures. I'm rather indifferent to the Mulroneys in general.

I'm not going to comment on the politics Brian Mulroney as it could turn into a rant - I was old enough to vote during his time in office. My vote always goes to the best individual in my constituency who I feel can represent my views best; my MP switched parties during that time.

There is no doubt that Ben Mulroney has benefitted from his last name, but who in their right mind wouldn't cash in on that kind of opportunity. You'd be stupid not to. I'm sure each and every person who posted on this board would do the same if the opportunity presented itself.

Do I like or hate Ben Mulroney? To be honest, I'm indifferent. Ben Mulroney doesn't represent anything to me except for another talking head on the tube. I don't think he gives anyone epilepsy but certainly he seems to be the topic of fits here ;) ha ha ha!

It should be understood that an irritation factor is a prerequisite of these talking heads. Obviously from the above posts, the resemblence to his father is the the irritation factor in and of itself. I'm sure Ben Mulroney plays into that and he's laughing his way to the bank. I actually had the tv on and honestly he doesn't sound the same as any of the other hosts of television shows. It's likely he knows at the moment he's a commodity and he's using it to his advantage.

we're forgetting a big issue here. Sass Jordan aside, can anyone name another one of the stupid judges on that show. There's the Simon wanna be, the Randy clone, and that fat idiot with the glasses. And then there's Ben. It pains me to watch Canadian Idol. The show symbolizes Canada's desire to be like out southern neighbours. Plus, Ben's an idiot.

I can't really express how much I hate him, but strapping him into a face stabbing machine would be a good start... and what's with is face? I think this one came out the wrong hole Mrs. Mulroney- "congratulations, it's a bouncing baby turd." I've nearly injured myself on several occasions scrammbling towards the TV to change it before his face comes on. On the few occasions that I've watched Etalk, I've noived that the director even prefers to zoom out for Ben's shots. His own show thinks he's an ugly dousche! As do most people. Why can't he just die like those nice Trudeau boys.

Ben does indeed suck...and suck hard. I wish I could delete his cameo as a reporter in Fantastic Four. What a knob...his father was a holier-than-thou a$$hole too.
